If you want to use your computer to record TV shows, then you will need this software to control your TV tuner card(s). This was the chosen software dispite its cost because it is the most refined software that I have come across for TV on the Mac, and it can control multiple tuner cards as well. It is worth noting three things though.

     1) There is a Lite version of this software, which might fit your needs, but will not be covered on this site.

     2) This software sometimes comes with the tuner cards, so if you are purchasing a tuner card it would be worthwhile looking to see if this is included.

     3) The channel guide listings in this software have a yearly charge after the first year.
